"The stable 'Quartetto' that pianist Davide Mosconi, saxophonist Enzo Gardenghi, percussionist Marco Cristofolini, and cellist and violinist Gustavo Bonora brought to life beginning in the late '60s constituted the core of what would, in the early years of the next decade, become the larger improvising ensemble NADMA. The group was also an elegant and accomplished expression of the musical objectives of its members. The rich yields that Davide Mosconi cultivated from his exploration of improvisation and the visionary creativity that revealed influences from parallel planes throughout his oeuvre originated in his formative years." |

Not Not Fun |
"LA is a sprawl, no doubt, but the deserts get dryest out in the sick sticks of Riverside. Ever since we first trekked out to the Pixel Palace (RIP) and had our skulls redefined, the 92501 crew have struck us as maybe the truest keepers of the So-Cal house party bombing freak-wave flame. The scene's since changed of course, but these two bands were/are the kings of old-school Inland Empire radicalism. Quem Quaeritis are no more, sadly, but the trio's jams here show beyond a shadow of a doubt why they fucking ruled. Jesus-bent weird-hop, Laker boat free-jazz, and post-political tent spiritualism mesh into a holy trinity of lunatic Americana. No genres, no rules, spring break freedom turned inside out. Child Pornography have been rocking/annoying west coasters since nearly 9/11, and their game still ain't up. Nine spazzy rants of Suicide-on-pixie-sticks Casio-babble, dumb-wave guitar shred, and helium-keyed stream of consciousness word barf. Enough outsider vibes and confusing nonsense to irritate even the stone-chillest board-short bro. In fancy printed matte jackets with face-collage scribble Erin Allen artwork, on kryptonite green vinyl. Edition of 420." |

"A personal, meditative, moving journey, through time, mind, worlds and dreams. Crafted from piano artifacts played over a time period stretching several years and in more recent months channelled through loud fractured and working speakers in empty rooms and a cabin, combined with my voice and detritus to create 10 blissful, hopeful yet melancholic pieces that all combine to create the world that is LIVING. - Tim Hurley |

"We recently discovered a group from Ireland called Bonecloud, we raved about them on a past list and promptly sold out of their cd-r's, which are now unfortunately out of print. The same thing happened with Bonecloud offshoot Quetzolcoatl, so when we discovered a brand new full length cd-r we jumped on it and ordered a whole bunch, but of course this too is super limited, so don't expect these to be around for long." "Best release so far from this member of Bonecloud. Shrill shrieks writhe and slither in a morass of unholy ecstasy on the opener. Other tracks shroud violin, organ, vocals and other indistinguishable sounds in the cavernous echo, reverb and ominous atmosphere of a haunted subway station. The title track sounds like an eerie serenade from beyond the grave, a melancholic lullaby swims in a pool of echo, barely discernible. Great stuff." - Boa Melody Bar |

Time-Lag |
"Long in the works reissue of this amazing and little known gem, Beautiful People, from 1972. Born in Miami, Florida to an American father and Venezuelan mother, Bill split the USA to Madrid, Spain in the early '70s. Once there he quickly landed a recording deal with famous producer Alain Milhaud of the Explosion label, and set to work on this, his sole LP release. Sessions went down with an impressive cast of up to eleven players in the studio, including Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellicó (Cerebrum), Jess Lam (Jess & James), and Frank Rojas (Sangre). One of the album's real hidden treasures, though, was the assistance of unknown Texan Mark Gottschall, who co-wrote the title track and adds perfect vocal harmonies as well a second acoustic guitar. A finely balanced mix of sounds that drifts between throbbing electric full band groove and gentle acid folk. Reissued here for the first time, with the collaboration of producer & Explosion label owner Alain Milhaud. Pressed on 180gm audiophile grade vinyl & limited to 1000 copies." |

"This is probably our most minimal and abstract work yet... lots of hypnotic swirling chirps and burps swimming in warm/cool synthscapes and keyboard drones that are briefly interrupted by soothing amateur vocal croons and looped tribal beats over wave crashing tape loops washed ashore carrying a barge of scattered electronics and future music experimentation followed by a beautifully repetitive ending." |

Donovan Quinn & the 13th Month |

Soft Abuse |
"The son of Dave Carter, bassist & vocalist for legendary 60's psychedelic group Country Weather (consult Pokora...), and named after Mr. Leitch, Quinn grew up on a horse ranch in Walnut Creek, CA and began writing songs at an early age. Donovan's growing reputation as a first rate darkly romantic penman (thanks to contributions to The Skygreen Leopards and solo as Verdure) has culminated with his latest endeavor, a new solo vehicle known as Donovan Quinn & the 13th Month. Rather than aping or ducking genres, Quinn has crafted a bright spectrum of songs best described as 'American.' X-ian folk, languid indie pop, VU cool, loner country, and west coast psych are touchstones, with Quinn's singular lyrical abilities & taste for sun-baked song at the fore. Ever the flower bed romantic, Quinn has - at the risk of over-simplification - written a classic "break-up record;" albeit one filtered through surrealistic tenderness and riddled with red herrings & feelings of betrothal. Though not exactly lost in a sea of scarves, Quinn is indebted to the vulnerability, humor and bitterness present in the works of Ronnie Lane, Skip Spence, Nikki Sudden, Gene Clark and Basement Tapes-era Dylan. Weaving earthy melodies around Quinn's characteristically hazy vocals is The 13th Month: a small rotating cast of players that includes Jason Quever (Papercuts), Karl Bauer (Axolotl), Hélène Renaut, and Jess Roberts." |

"After several years of writing & recording, Donovan Quinn (Skygreen Leopards) recently completed work on his proper debut, working as Donovan Quinn & The 13th Month. Before we get too far into the LP's hows & whys, we've got this single to serve as a taste of what will soon be. "Sister Alchemy" appears on the forthcoming LP. The Rabbits Tracks, wherein DQ channels Kris Kristofferson & Nikki Sudden with equal prejudice, is exclusive to this release. |

Colour Sound Recordings |
"Trashed-up punk-jazz art-rock by some NYC freaks who ain't fakin' it, and remember that even carefully scalped heads still reveal a mess of blood and gore; with this analogy we at Colour Sounds present the new offering of sacrificial pleasure, the debut release by QUIVERS entitled "Once There Were Some". Formed out of the incestuous and diverse improv/experimental music scenes of NYC, the core of the group began as collaborations between electric guitarist Ninni Morgia, upright bassist Jordan Schranz, and vocalist Marie Evelyn. Somewhere down the line, these cats stumbled upon wrong-drummer Adam Kriney and figured they should play some shows together. After several successful revelatory performances to typically unappreciative/confused NYC audience members, these 4 bastards headed into the studio to lay it out and give birth to god's marmalade mystery baby, in sound form. A real ride through truly odd improvised rock/anti-jazz bullshit skronk, on the heavy speed meets LSD trip and on the mushrooms meets cocaine trip. This CD-R is limited to 52 numbered copies in stoned art-ed up packaging, typically eye-melting Colour Sound designs doin' it again. This is a split release with the Tigerasylum Records label." - label |

"Quttinirpaaq is multi instrumentalist Texan Matt Turner, and Dragged Through The Streets sounds to me like what last years weak ass Transformers movie should have looked like... Doom ridden feedback and thundering percussion, weirdo electronics with walls of harsh feedback, screech and squelch lined crust invested sludge, bleak tribal drums with repetetive piano and metallic feedback shuffles, all across 6 tracks. Further releases will soon be seen on Ruralfaune, Reverb Worship, Epicene ESR and more!" |
